Arcades to Install ‘Crack Cocaine’ Betting Machines

Adult Gaming Centers

Major arcade chains want a share in the fixed odds betting terminals (FOBTs) market. They are re-licensing as adult gaming centers (AGCs) to gain access to the cash cow. The FOBTs is touch-screen roulette terminals labelled as the "crack cocaine of gambling". These machines can guzzle up £100 every 20 seconds. The FOBTs are presently confined to betting shops only.

Underage on AGCs

There are more than 1,500 AGCs in the UK, which traditionally operate lower-stake machines and are often owned by large international gambling firms. A Gambling Commission report earlier this month found that half of AGCs allowed under-18s to play machines without challenging them to prove their age, the Independent reported on 14 Sep 2014.
